FOR GLOBAL ONLINE CONFERENCE SPEAKERS: HOW TO RECORD YOUR PRESENTATIONS
First of all, if you have agreed to be one of the presenters, we’re thrilled that you will be sharing your expertise as part of Proteknon’s upcoming global online conference on sexual violence against children. As you know, the presentations will be pre-recorded by you and then aired during the conference. As for the format, we’re thinking of about 20 to 30 minutes (or shorter) for each presentation. You have a few options, depending on your comfort level with technology and being on camera:
1. You can record yourself giving your presentation. This would probably be best delivered through a webcam or on your phone (if it’s the latter, please make sure it’s stable while recording).
2. If you prefer to focus on slides, you can record your audio while you take us through the slides, and turn the whole thing into a video. You can also add videos of yourself talking for a combination of you and the slides. (For details see: Powerpoint - Turn your presentation into a video or for those of you who prefer Google Drive, you can use a combo of Slides, Hangouts and YouTube to record your presentation.]
3. For those of you who like to experiment with new web technologies, you are welcome to try out different video/presentation making platforms such as Touchcast or Adobe Presenter. There are many others, some free like Touchcast and some you need to pay for where you can insert not only slides, but webpages, and interactive media into your presentation.
All of these are options and suggestions meant to provide some guidance, but if you have any other ideas, they are most welcome!
If you’re interested in participating in the live Q&A sessions online while the presentations are being aired, be sure to work in some questions to pique the audience’s interest, or to ask for questions.
A note on sound quality. The best option is to test it out. Make a short recording, and listen to yourself on headphones (or without) to hear how it sounds.
